Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.
-Napoleon Hill
Hey friends, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks.
It always is over here, though.
Like we chatted about in the last setting intentions post, I had a goal of getting my blog ish figured out. For about a month, the blog I had worked on for 6-7 years was having some serious issues—serious enough that I thought it was gone forever.
I don’t know if you’re a blogger, but if you can relate to 6-7 years worth of your work, your life, your sweat and tears just disappearing one day– that is about how I felt.
Not great.
Okay real talk: I was a giant mess.
I had this whole post written up slamming the companies that caused the mess, but I’m not sure a hate post is the best thing to write at this point.
I will say this: if you are on Blogger, don’t buy your domain through them (it causes mass confusion) OR GoDaddy (I don’t trust them and I’m not alone).
I suggest bluehost (<-affiliate link because I’m a fan–for my purposes they are great and the host of all of my blogs), or somewhere else that a good friend has recommended.
Note: I can help you personally with my blogging services if you are looking to start a blog and don’t want to mess with any of this. Also, if you really want to see my hate post and some of the ish I went through, e-mail me and I will send it to you. I really don’t want anyone to go through what I did!
Patience, persistence and perspiration…
Instead of a mean post, I decided I would post something a little more uplifting.
Persistence and perspiration.
Something that helped me win this battle was persistence and some serious mental perspiration (and Dave’s help and support—he literally sat on the line with GoDaddy all day at work one day).
I decided that I wasn’t taking no for an answer and this was my blog so by golly I was getting it back! I had the persistence and perspiration part down. When I set my mind on something, I am not afraid to work for it.
Patience.
Something that could have helped me through a lot of the process was patience. This is something I have always struggled with, especially at this point in my life where I thought I would be somewhere totally different.
Patience doesn’t mean waiting around for something to happen.
Patience gives you sanity so that you aren’t obsessing over the thing you want so badly.
Sure, there is the work that you do and sure, obsessing over something might get you results, but in the end you are drained with little energy left for anything else. And that’s not a great quality of life.
Success.
I think sometimes our view of success is skewed. We often look to our peers to see what we think success really looks like. On top of that, we often look to the peer that are killing it. And then compare our (what we think of as) mediocrity to their abundance of success.
This is part of the reason why I blog. It makes the little successes along the way seem more important.
This is also a big reason why I do the gold stars and demerits posts. This way I’m not comparing myself to others—I’m comparing me to ME. The little successes I share might not seem like much, but they make a difference in my sanity when I make sure to recognize them.
I did finally get my semihealthyblog back this Saturday. And I was so happy I cried. It might seem like a small success, but to me, it was everything.

So tell me…
Do you think you have equal amounts of patience, persistence and perspiration? Or do you struggle with one of these?

I’m so happy that you got your blog up and running again. It makes me so mad that there are people in this world who buy up domains just to make a profit from poor bloggers. It’s like those nasty ticket scalpers (I think that’s what they are called) who buy up tickets to concerts then sell them to desperate fans.
